I am currently looking at refitting out my combo lathe/mill and converting all the drives and hardware to digital. This way I will be able to run mach 3 etc. I was after some input from you guys as to what Hardware I would need. I would also like to have the machine setup so that the lathe spindle could also be used as the 4th axis for the mill. So far I need or am looking at.
I also know I need wiring etc. But is that all the components I will need? And what do you guys recommend for my list, or is there something that I have totally missed? Any help will be appreciated. Spec sheet for the Servo motors is in the link and everything written on motors is below. Spindle Motors both have the following on them: Brand: Baldor Cat: VP3328D Spec: 33 2085 Z169 HP: 0.5 RPM: 3000 Type: PM 3327P Servo Motors have: Brand: Electrocraft Model: S240 - 1A8 Type: 0240 - 04 - 022 Encoders: HEDS 5540 I13 9838A Kev Last edited by kevinl2375; 06-23-2010 at 08:01 PM. | 180V spindle motor would work best with the granite drive (or some other HV capable drive) and an encoder (~$40) 48V servos should work fine with gecko, just depends if you want to spend the extra cash for granite drives I guess ($114*3 vs. $300*2). typo on the encoder: HEDS-5540#I13 (5V 512cpr) |
