| These forums are for product support. No one wants to put down someone elses products here on cnczone. We are all a community supporting home cnc. There have been a lot of views of this thread, but as you see no one has commented for that reason. You are best to decide by searching the internet and comparing specs. What size motors are you looking to drive ? What voltage, What encoder ? Larry K

If the inference is that there is a bias here toward supporting advertisers that is not really true. Constructive criticism (or praise) has always been allowed. Non- Productive bashing, No. In fact advertisers that have included commercials in the general forums have had them removed, and also the practice of an advertiser being a Mod in his product forum has been discontinued. There are plenty of independent reviewers on the internet that one could turn to for information about the products that they may be considering. Finding one that is not a shill might be a little difficult. Just by reading through the many informative threads here will actually give a reader a good idea of the pro's and con's of most any product on the market with out having to have a "this vs. that" thread. |

| Yes I believe that forums like these do help someone separate the 'wheat from the chaff' and keeps potential manufacturers on their toes. You still get the odd person, even here that declares 'If you are going to buy a car, buy a Ford, they are the BEST car made' The problem is he has only drive Fords!. ![]() Al. (I have nothing against Ford, BTW)

| Im a noobie, and i purely wanted to know the advantage or disadvatages between the Gecko 340 which is there top model vs the Viper 250 which looks to be there new top model. I never asked anyone to bash anything whatsoever. I just wanted users opinions on the product. Are there certain features that the Viper has that would make it a better buy over the gecko etc. Just a simple compare and contrast nothing more nothing less. Just because a feature has a disadvantage over another product does not mean its "bashing". |

![]() My point was mainly directed at the post that could be interpreted to mean that constructive criticism was discouraged, when in fact the opposite is true. Al.

I've been doing my research and i have found a million people complaining about the Gecko not being able to have enough power to talk to the encoder, where as the viper has basically no limit on encoder power etc. I also like the fact as you said that there driver chips are repairable and you don't have to waste your time with warranty BS. Warranty's are good especially if they honor them, but id rather pop a new chip in and be back milling then going to the post office and waiting. |
