Rutex drivers used For CNC milling

    Hi there!
I am currently building my own CNC machine and will be using Rutex drivers. Although I have made a considerable amount of research in general and also designs, I would highly appreciate information as regards to results and how these drives perform.
    Thanks

Actually looking at the web page I like the 200 volt version of the R996 Servo Motor Drive. 6 amps at 200 volts. The gecko's I was going to use are 80 volts 7 amps. My motors are 110 volts 1.1 amps. These might be more suitable.

I too would be interested in what others think or these.

    Hi Eric,
Thanks for the tip! I'l get in touch with routerman to see how they worked for him. I'l also be keeping you guys updated of my small and slow progressions in the future, as I only work a few hours here and there.

THe Rutex drives worked great. Very reliable and easy to tune.

    8020

    Balsaman,

I tried responding to your add for the 8020. I am willing to drive to Canada to get them. I live near Syracuse, How far are you from Kingston?

I am running Rutex products, very satisfied.

(I just had to delete a spam, so I posted too - even though the thread is from the stone age )

    Feedback on Rutex Drives

I used 3) R2020 drived for my CNC mill conversion; they worked fine. One of the drives I got never worked correctly even right out of the box , but it was taken care of by the US distributor who is good to work with. They do have a nice tuning program.

I do have a couple of complaints about them though:
-The mechanical design of the drives is not the greatest (use of nuts vs screws for mounting that are very difiicult to access)
-Difficult to connect and disconnect the power wires due to limited access, and use of nuts.
-Design is too compact overall; tired to crunch everything into too small of a package.
-No way to reset errors without shutting off power to the logic circuitry.
-Intermittent supply of new/replacement boards; sometimes takes a while to get them.

I am going to try different drives for my lathe conversion. I'll see if I like them better.

    -Brian
