| Anders, Yes, you must be running 2000 line encoders * 4 = 8000. You may want to use the step multiplier to increase your speed a little and decrease your resolution. Tom

I have built a controller and am currently debugging it, since it is not yet working properly. All the servodrives are Gecko G320s. Three of the motors are identical Electro-Craft - E242s and all three encoders are identical Renco's, which appear to be virtually the same as the RM21. One of the motor-encoders is working perfectly. The other two oscillate between a short duration rotation and the turning on the FAULT light for a few seconds. When switching power + encoder leads between the GeckoG320 servodrivers and the motor/encoders, the problem moves with the motor/encoders. All three encoders have the round CA 18 cables and the only difference between these three encoders was that the two, which are not operating properly, had more encoder wires attached to the connectors. I have wired all three; ~ + 5VDC ~ RED ~ Ch – A (non inv.) ~ WHITE ~ Ch – B (non inv.) ~ GREEN ~ 0V ~ BLACK Since two of them are not working properly I followed Mariss's following instructions from another thread; ~ Reinstalled the Jumpers ERR/RES to ENC+ (terminal 5 to terminal 7). ~ Turn DAMP and GAIN to the 10'clock position (8'oclock = fully CCW, 4'oclock = fully CW). Turn LIMIT fully CW. ~ Reverse encoder channels A and B if the drive continues to pulse. The two continue to oscillate. Does anyone know the cause. Thanks Dave |
