I am using Rutex R990mb motherboard. What cable is correct configuration to go from pc to motherboard 25 pin connection? Also I understand there is revision when running Rutex tuning software, on the 15 pin connection on motherboard no resister is required. You use a jumper between 1and2. Also a jumper between 3 and 4. What software is most compatable? Thanks for any help mikburts |

| Mike, did you not receive Vladimir's response? Hi Mike, 1. The 25-pin connector on the motherboard for printer port is a straight cable. You can get it from local computer shop and ask for DB25M to DB25F straight printer extension cable. If you use Mach-2 then you might need to swap the STEP and DIR pins outputs in the Port setup. 2. I believe you have R990mb revision 030618. That one does not need the resistor - only two links 1&2 and 3&4 when using tuning software. The revision before that needed the 100 ohms resistor between 3&4. Regards vh This was my response: Mike, Hmm...Sorry this is proving difficult. A straight through db25 cable is otherwise known as a printer extension cable, with male and female ends, so both are telling you the same thing. Vladimir is just telling you to check to be sure that the step and direction pins match your setup in Mach2, I believe. This would be set up in the software. If I recall, the tuning software comes with pin connection instructions. Just make sure you are set up according to those instructions for tuning. Are you using Mach2? Art has set up the tuning software as part of Mach2, but the tuning button on the displayed control does nothing. I have not used the tuning software yet that Art has set up in Mach2, but there are lots of posts telling of other's experience. Tom Eldredge, Rutex USA

| Thanks milkburts for your post. You are right, It is a good idea to get the information for others aswell. Rutexus, I am presuming you are Tom, the official Rutex representative ? I am using Mach 2 to control the rutex drivers too. It seems to rum ok but not with the Mach2 rutex settings, just in Axis hot keys settings. Could you please post the Mach2 Rutex.xml setting in this forum. The current ones that you use. I would like to try them. Thanks |

| Ynneb Have you tried any other software. I don't know what your application is. I guess some software is suited better for different applications. I am retrofiting an ESAB flame cutter. When I get up and running I will post some pictures and progress report on Mach2. Thanks again for reply Mike |
