THANKS for any help. SETUP: R990mb x 1 R990H x 3 R990io x 1 Power Supply: toroidal transformer @ prim. 120v 60hz 686va ---- sec. 2*30v 650va bridge rectifier I need to know what size capacitor to use for my set up. I have 2 90000uf - 10 + 75%, 50 VDC 65 Surge, 85 CMAX Ambient will these work. DC Servo Motors: 90vdc 2.6 amp 1/4hp 45:1 ratio 76 rpm 100 in. lb. torque Still need 2 motors |

| This is part of my setup. It seem from your pictures, you are doing the same thing. Differebtial encoders are recommended. Sorry I dont know the brand names or part numbers. You can also read this http://www.cnczone.com/modules.php?n...warticle&id=13 and also this http://www.cnczone.com/modules.php?n...warticle&id=27 Last edited by ynneb; 04-21-2005 at 07:29 PM. |

| My enclosure is a scrap panel I got from work, and is way oversized for the application. I bought a break out board from Axxus technologies, but am not really sure if I am going to use it, as rutex has provide enough I/o for my needs.

| Your capacitors look like they are rated too low in voltage. Never exceed the voltage on a capacitor. Look for caps. that are rated with a "working" voltage above what you plan to use. You would put the 10,000 caps in parallel, I assume. I would not think your heat sinking requirements would be very significant for your set up. Driving 26 inch lb motors, I just bolt the drives to the back of my electrical cabinet, which is painted steel. If the drive does not run too hot to keep your finger on when you are driving it hard, you should be ok. Tom Eldredge, Rutex LLC.

| US digital, series E5 or E6 are my choices for encoders. Save yourselves a lot of grief--Always use differential, incrimental encoders. Check them out on their web site, and pick your specific requirements. Any limit switch will do. Most electronic supply catalogs list them under limit switches. It all depends on what you are going to do with them. If you are just reporting back to the cnc control that you have a limit condition, all you need is a pair of contacts which will close. If you want to interrupt drive power, you must use DPDT switches or Relays. There are lots of different configurations to deal with limit switches. Tom Eldredge Rutex LLC Tom Eldredge, Rutex LLC
