Question Yaskawa Sigma 2 drives replace?

Want to do a retrofit on a large gantry plasma table.

It has Yaskawa Sigma 2 servo drives and amplifiers.
Have 13bit incremental encoders. (Have to admit to not knowing if this is good or bad)

Was thinking about going latest and greatest closed loop with new drives like the Sigma 7.
Would I really be gaining much or just spending money?

What sigma II Drives do you have, going with the latest, for a plasma machine would be just spending lots of money for no benefit

13Bit is good enough for a plasma machine
