    Default Servo drive help.

    Hello fellow CNCers

I'm retrofitting a DM4400(build log comming soon), and i'm replacing the stepper motors with these DC servo motors
What driver would you suggest? The G320X is only rated for 80VDC but the motors are 90VDC

I'm also looking for something to replace the spindle drive,

    http://www.cnczone.com/forums/attach...d=358010&stc=1

For the axis drivers, the budget 2-300$ per driver.

For the spindle driver, the buget is 3-500$

    Thanks in advance.

That is a true DC servo. The Gecko is designed for stepper motors. You will need a DC servo driver for that servo.

The gecko320x servo driver will work. The power supply voltage will set the maximum rpm the servo will spin at. The motor is rated at 6000rpm with 90volts. If you only need 3000rpm, you will need approximately 45volts power supply voltage.

You are also limited to 20amps current so the peak torque will be less than the max rated. You will need to calculate to see if that is enough for your application.

    I use 9 gecko320's running 3 machines.

Oh, yep, it is a servo drive. I didn't realize Gecko were building servo drives as well. Haven't looked at their product line lately.

    Tanks for the reply,
Has anybody tried the DG4S-16035 it seems really reasonable for its price.
