with brake or without ,cnc lathe sevo motors

I have done the "Motor Sizing" for a cnc lathe axis's servo motors , the question , Do I have to buy motors with brakes ?

they are 1.5 kw motor for z axis and 750w for x axis.

You should not need motors with brakes.

The only time you need a brake on a servo is when the servo is turned off and you have to hold the load against gravity. With the servo turned on, it will hold position up to the torque limit of the servo. In your application, you will not need a brake.
