FMD2740A problem

Just to document this.
The FMD2740A is rated for a power supply of 12-50V.
I just had a Chinese one blow up and it seems that inside a 5V step down regulator was used that is only rated for 6-45V.
There is an extended range version for 6-60V so it is possible that other units with the proper chip exist.
If anyone uses these with a 48V supply, check that the Linear Technology chip in the upper right corner ends in LM2576HVS-5.0 instead of LM2576S-5. 0

I found this thread from searching "FMD2740A". Would you consider this lot 3pcs Stepper Motor Driver | eBay part of the Chinese knock-offs?
How do you find the performance of them?
What are you using for a controller / break out board?
~ What is your thoughts on the board included in that link?

Nice...my replacement FMD2740A failed because of a bad solder connection on Capacitor 1.
It's moving freely.
