How did you get around your grounding issue?

Still using a clip-on clamp on the collet nut, but that's pretty clumsy now, especially having to be right there to grab it right after the tool change setting, so I do intend to do something about it. Before, I guess I was reluctant to run a wire down near the collet just because it would get in the way of removing the router when necessary, and the way the mount surrounds the case. Now, with the mod for the SuperPID and its wire, I guess that's kind of silly. I'll be attaching one to the base soon.

    Added simple auto zero

I added a download link on my site for an alternate "simple" auto zero macro.
For those that don't need the toolchange auto zero and 2 plate setup, this will allow you to just do a single auto zero.

It also still supports the optional material offset, and the retract height is user definable via the Clearance Plane DRO.

Is it an either/or thing, or can both be used in the same screens?

One or the other for right now, but if you want both, I can add another button on the toolbar I guess.

Well, it seems the Colt uses some kind of ceramic bearing. I have no connectivity between the collet and bit to any part of the case. Not sure now how to avoid having a clip on the collet when zeroing.

I wouldn't think it's a ceramic bearing, as replacements are only $5. (I just checked)
Looking at this pic, http://www.ereplacementparts.com/ima...2609110220.gif it looks like the bearing is mounted in plastic to isolate it. Perhaps you can disassemble it, and drill a hole and get a wire to contact the outside of the bearing? Just a guess.

Not a bad guess, thanks for checking, Gerry. Perhaps I'll try to squeeze something in there. Probably ought to change the bearing as long as I'm there, anyway.

Actually, I'm doing this only because I don't want to change the mount. If I did, what is the "cleanest" router for grounding/SuperPID mods - I mean easiest to do? Any feeling for that? I went with the Colt only because it was light and had the best runout.

I don't use that stuff too often, but I'm sure others probably do. The only thing I was going to do, when I got a chance, was make a little Icon to put on the top bar by the M6 stuff for just a normal z autoprobe like I used to do before the tool change. Figure every now and then I'll still be using it. Add the newest z code to the button and all.

    Absolutely.

I think it would be extra useful if there was a setting for probe offset so that I could use a non-spindle mounted probe. I'd need to work out how to activate it though (I want it to retract when not in use).

    Regards,

    Jason
