I'd rather get into a cage full of hungry dingoes naked with rabbits tied to my wedding tackle!

That does sound far more enjoyable. How many times did his head nearly hit the concrete

Abomination,

At least with my approach to fun means that you have some fighting chance of avoiding serious injury, even if it means standing very still and trying to not make the rabbits look appetising.

Imagine his wife explaining his sad demise to the kids. "Sorry Lisa and Bart, daddy was killed today when a robot slam dunked his head into a concrete floor".

This dude is a serious contender for the Darwin Awards.

Buy me a Beer?
Would have been interesting if a Workplace Health and Safety inspector decided to visit at that particular moment...lol

This is why drinks on a Friday after work at the shop can be a bad idea.

Russell.

Fun at shop now amusment ride!

This is probably one of the most dangerous things I have seen done with an industrial robot! Now check out this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a3mRCdz9Rc

Someone took this idea and made it into a public ride at legoland, frickin insane! I don't know who would insure something like this. It does sound like people have fun on it ,and they eliminated the "scrape your head on the concrete" feature.

Looks like Fanuc released their newest version of their 3d vision smart end effector.

As much as Ive seen the 5-axis routers crash at work for no apparent reason, I would pass on a ride like that.

A guy I work with asked the instructor at the Fanuc school if he could ride one, he of course said after you get the one at your shop going, you can ride that one.

We haven't done it yet....that whole crashing thing???

I work with Kuka robots and apart from them running Windows I would trust them a hell of a lot more than a average fair ground ride. I reckon the you tube video robot is a Kuka (300kg). It would be a bit of a problem if it broke a belt though (never had or heard of one break) as the ones I have worked on don't have a brake on the 5th and 6th axis. 5th axis would be disastrous for the passengers.
Cheers
Daza

Riding a robot, scary. Riding amusement park rides? F*ing terrifying. Between a recent career in military and civil aircraft maintenance, and a new career in non-destructive testing, I have a lot of basis for being afraid of your average whirly-gig... yikes. Too many moving parts being maintained to .. what? Whatever is cheap and probably works?
