So I got the board and motors from the rockcliff 3 axis kit today. Connected everything as per the wiring diagram Started match 3 with the board config file loaded some G code and run the program. The motors will not move at all!. They hum a little when everything is turned on but no movement at all. What gives? can someone help me troubleshoot it? |

| Do the motors lock up when power is applied?

| If you know how to use a multimeter, check the power going into the driver board. First, make sure the power is off. Disconnect the power supply from the driver board. Turn on the power and check the power supply's output voltage. If it is correct, turn off the power, reconnect to the driver board, and turn the power back on. Check the voltage at the driver board power input. If it is not the same, your board is fried. There are trim pots to adjust the current for each motor. How to do that is included in the instructions. Rockcliff can also help you with that. They have excellent support. I've fried 3 of these boards. I don't know why. They worked perfectly for a while, then "poof" - they're dead. Much easier to set up (and less expensive) than Gecko drives, but I have not fried my Gecko G540, using the same motors and setup that fried the Rockcliff drivers. Still don't know what I did wrong with the Rockcliff setups. |
