Jeff,

Yes, the motors are set for 1/8 step, and I have made sure the step pulses are not inverted. I also jacked up the voltage to 18 volts on the board. That helped somewhat but not enough to really make a difference. I am going to make a short video of the operation and send it to you so you can see what is happening. Do you think it would be helpful to change out the NEMA 17 motors for NEMA23 motors?

Larry,

I don't remember you mentioning the pitch of the screws, the weight of the axis and the speed you want to maintain.

Using a 20 tpi screw verses a 10 tpi screw will double the torque and run much smoother at 1/2 the speed.

Larger motors may be the answer however we need more data from you.

I am wondering why you would not use the PC 5v supply?
The wall wart supply is reference to the PC anyway?

Al The Man is 100% correct. Sorry I neglected to mention 5 volts d.c. is available from your P.C.

You could have tapped into +5 volts on one of the power supply leads or even used 5 volts off the USB.

Older USB source's may be limited to 100ma 5 volt d.c. output and may not supply sufficient current.

See attached images.
