2 Sided milling

Hey Guys,

I'm trying to decided on which cad software to lay my hard earned dollars on. I just sampled Rhino Cam Standard. Does anyone know what the easiest way is to do 2 sided milling with it is?

What I mean is I have an object that needs to be milled on each side, so I have to flip the stock around. Do I just create a seperate MOP for each or is there an easier way to do this?

Also, is there a huge advantage to getting the 'pro' package. I do want 4th axis but I see that I can upgrade to the 4th axis for $800 which is cheaper than spending 4K.

Any help would be great.

I have been using separate .3dm files. One for each side. Recently I had parts which required machining on 6 sides! I had six rhino files, each one had the part located and oriented properly, the key was choosing my 0,0,0 orientation and then properly setting work offsets.

dirtdiggler, did you decide on the 4th axis? I use it here for a roland mdx 540.

Rdesign, six files... 4th axis rotation would speed things up maybe.

I have a problem with my mop, its a two sided job, basic 3d each side, with a 180 a axis rotation.

the tool doesn't follow the clearance and skim planes, and sits at zero.

cuts the job in half?

short of altering the code with a z axis move. what to do?
