Hey Guys, I'm trying to decided on which cad software to lay my hard earned dollars on. I just sampled Rhino Cam Standard. Does anyone know what the easiest way is to do 2 sided milling with it is? What I mean is I have an object that needs to be milled on each side, so I have to flip the stock around. Do I just create a seperate MOP for each or is there an easier way to do this? Also, is there a huge advantage to getting the 'pro' package. I do want 4th axis but I see that I can upgrade to the 4th axis for $800 which is cheaper than spending 4K. Any help would be great. | I have been using separate .3dm files. One for each side. Recently I had parts which required machining on 6 sides! I had six rhino files, each one had the part located and oriented properly, the key was choosing my 0,0,0 orientation and then properly setting work offsets. |

| dirtdiggler, did you decide on the 4th axis? I use it here for a roland mdx 540. Rdesign, six files... 4th axis rotation would speed things up maybe. I have a problem with my mop, its a two sided job, basic 3d each side, with a 180 a axis rotation. the tool doesn't follow the clearance and skim planes, and sits at zero. cuts the job in half? short of altering the code with a z axis move. what to do? |
