Unhappy NEW TO RHINO HELP NEEDED

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me with splitting a object in RHINO i have imported a file OBJ or STL but can not split it?

in the command box it said (Isocurve): i have tried but, can not work out what this means, yet if i draw a simple Cub i have no problems splitting it?
if any one know why, can they help?
    Thanks.
    Luei

sometimes you have to use a surface or explode the objects first.

OK can you confirm the following

    # you can not model a STL or OBJ file in RHINO?

    # these file can only be imported then ether retraced or converted to a NURBS file?

If you are using Rhino 3.0 then Yes, you are right. Polygon mesh objects are not NURBS objects. So not much can be done with them. You can use Curve From Object, Duplicate edge, Duplicate border and Section. Rhino 4.0 has Mesh edit tools, Mesh split.
