newbie Rhino 4 tutorial questions

Hello,
I am very new to CAD in general and am working through the Rhino tutorial level 1. I have a couple of questions.
I can get from here to there in the tutorials but not exactly the way the instructions are written. Is there possibly a difference in the written tutorials and the actual program due to updates and such? Sometimes the program and the tutorial do not seem reflective of each other.
I am using the tutorial disc that came with Rhino 4.0.
If I am getting the same model with polylines that
the tutorial calls for (with polylines) does it matter how and in what order I placed them.

My other question is, every so often it will not let me out of the view ports and if my mouse arrow hits the view port titles the port is completely moved.
So much today that I am done. Is this program crashing or is it something I might be doing?

Hello Fleck,

Yes sometimes the tut is not exactly like it should be. And yes, you can arrive at the destination point in Rhino in many, many different ways. To me that is both the good and bad of Rhino. There are so many ways to do a function that in my case, it makes it difficult for me to grasp.

Sounds to me like something is not set up right with your system and how it is functioning with Rhino. I haven't heard of a bug with the viewports moving or locking in one view. Are you double clicking on the viewport name to open and close? Have you tried the icon on the top tool bar? Same....different?

Sounds like you may have a click-lock function activated on your mouse.

Hello Fleck,

I am also working through the level 1 and level 2 tutorials on the work disk. The manual seems to be out-of-date in several areas since it doesn't always match what happens in the views. Several times I had to email Rhino support to clear up problems. Their response has always been fast and accurate. I would recommend this if everything else fails.
