I am fairly new to this CNC router thing. I just picked up my Shop Sabre with a TC machine in July. I have had a fair amount of success with V-Carve and am somewhat comfortable working with it. Recently, I purchased Rhino 3d and I am trying to import some 2-d drawings for simple cutting into V-carve. When I import them in a dxf format it pops up on the screen with an item from each viewport. I am not sure where to go from here. How do I get just the side view to appear and make it so that I can manipulate the object in v-carve? Also, is there something that I should be doing in advance to make the transition as smooth as possible? Any help would be much appreciated Jack |

| Newer versions of the .dxf format can contain view info. Try saving as .v12 .dxf, and do all your drawing in the top view.

| When you open Rhino, just select the top vieport and maximize it. Don't go to any other viewport to draw, save etc. Now when you export the dxf out it will be correct, assumping you didn't assign any z values when you did the drawing. Mike

| I have found that dxf's and Rhino are not really all that freindly... Sometimes it gets all the lines and sometimes not.... I even sometimes use the make 2d drwaing as another layer... I re-open in my other SF with no problems ever that way, it's like haveing 2 drawings...
