    help please

Ok I have Rhino 3 and beta 4
I have meshcam which will allow me to take bmps and create toolpaths however on finish paths it covers the whole project so I want to use my friends mastercam x to generate seperate toolpaths for rough and finish and be able to select the faces for the toolpath of the finish passes (cut down on time) Heres the problem meshcam will export stl but I cant get toolpaths to work on stl in mastercamx so I thought about using rhino to import the stl and convert it to a solid or something that mastercam can allow me to choose faces and then save as 3dm or iges. Heres the biggy I dont know how to do this I know nothing about rhino and my buddy says I am on my own with mastercam x and I dont know how to use it either please help.

You cannot convert an STL file to a solid in Rhino, that I know of. Then again I seldom to never work with STL and meshes, so I may be wrong.

There has been some discussion on STL to solids on this thread.

You might want to check out the MeshCAM 2 beta. MeshCAM 2 will have a geometry only option. Not sure if it's in the current beta yet, though.
