I think I've narrowed down my choices to either Rhino or Alibre. Admittedly, Alibre's more expensive, so that factors in. But Rhino's just more intuitive somehow... Anyway, my wife is VERY interested to know how much I'm going to spend on this and the best price I've found so far is around $650. Are there any better deals out there? Thanks! Mark |

| Download the free version of Alibre at www.alibre.com/xpress It's limited, but you can buy ad on modules to give you more functionality in the areas you need. THey also have a Home and Hobby version currently on sale for $495, wich is the same as the full standard version. As for Rhino, try this http://www.novedge.com/Page_Bookmark...1042&AFTK=FRGL

| Different people will have different opinions, but Imo Rhino and Alibre are 2 differrent types of programs, usually used for different types of applications. Sure, you can do the same things with both, but each have there good points. Alibre excels at mechanical type parts, where Rhino is great at more free flowing, organic type shapes, Rhino is very popular with boat designers. It really comes down to which works best for the types of parts you want to make.

However, if you knew where I could get Deskproto Full version cheap, that would be very helpful. I'm running the 30 day demo and am in love with it... Mark |

| Hopefully within the next year MeshCAM 2 will have a lot of the features of DeskProto for a lot less.
