80/20 parts show up as flat images in rhino3d

    Currently running rhino3d v3

When I open up 80/20 iges, dwg 8020.net parts in rhino3d. The parts look like they are 3d, but in other view ports, the parts are flat ie, two dimensional.

Is there something I am missing why the parts would look flat when opening up fractional parts from 8020.net?

The site to download the parts are at 80/20 Inc. - The Industrial Erector SetŪ
    > fractional > drawing files > 5 New Fractional Profile Drawings (All Formats) - Version 2010 (9.08MB)

    Thanks

I am not going to fill out the forms necessary to download parts from 8020, but I suspect that the IGES files only contain curve (drawing) data, not surface data... When you import the IGES into a blank Rhino file and then do a Ctrl+A, what does the command line tell you? If it tells you xxxx curves selected, then the file contains only curves. If it indicates that there are surfaces in the file, then there is something else wrong. Otherwise post one of the IGES files here and I will test (I don't have Rhino 3 anymore, that's long gone, but it shouldn't be any different in Rhino 4 or 5. --ch

If I read what you are saying correctly, you have: 1 - 3D view and 3 - 2D views. That is how Rhino works. It gives you the opportunity to select the best view to make your changes and updates. If you are not happy with the 4 port display, double click in the upper left corner of the port that you want to use. Double click right on the name of the desired view and it will fill the entire screen.

I recommend yo check out <www.cadjunkie.com> to see all the great things that Rhino can do.
