    Default Rhino verse Autocad

I'm a hardcore autocad user and use 95% keyboard short-cuts and I'm very interested in Rhino, how does user interface compare to autocad, would I have much problem crossing over? I hope I'm making sense. I will be doing 2-d and 3-d work.

I've had no problem with the mouse commands, but I don't know about keyboard. The largest issue is that the commands you can use are dependant upon what type of object it is, mesh, surface, sold, etc.

The work flow seems very autocad-like. However, I'm not sure this is actually a good thing. I've been testing Alibre and this whole "parametric" thing is very interesting.

I have and use alibre and I love that program but that is best for only 3-d part modeling.

A lot of Rhino's 2D commands are similar, if not the same as AutoCAD's. Very similar interface. I've heard that Version 4 will add more 2D functionality, which may make it even more similar to AutoCAD.

Rhino comes with an Autocad alias file (call them shortcuts, hotkeys, whatever)
The Rhino interface is very close to AutoCad, and is customizable to do whatever you would like. You can easily create toolbars and icons, keyboard shortcuts, macros, scripts etc. You can match Rhino to your AutoCad and use the same keyboard shortcuts. It will take you less than 5 minutes to figure out how to do it.

To me, the ability to customize Rhino to suit your needs is one of it's strongest features. You can even create your own programs in VB, create plug-ins in C++ with the free SDK, and so on.

As for V4, yes, it is going to advance significantly in it's 2D (and 3D) capabilities. If you buy Rhino V3 now, you can download the V4 beta now, and see for yourself.
