I take back what i said about bondo and sand...
After cleaning the column, head, various covers only the base is left.
I really don’t understand why such thick layers of bondo, the castings look nice and sharp without it.
If they wanted the machine to look beefier they could have just cast it thicker, cast iron is cheaper than bondo.
This is the internal coolant tank that I’m not going to use. It will eventually get filled up by polymer concrete.
Only few parts from automatic quill feed left to clean. Ultrasonic cleaner was very helpful to speed up the cleaning.
After I finish cleaning the base, I’ll look into paint. I think I’ll go with go with 2 component epoxy paint.
Also I’ll start on CAD modeling the parts, making a bearing and seal list, etc..
Some things are different on my mill compared to other 45 mills I saw on this forum. I’ll go trough the differences as I go along with the build.
