    Default ISO30 spinde upgrade

    Hi,

I have zx7045 branded mill, I assume its same as all others *45 square columns mills.
I have MT4 taper on the spindle, and I would Iike to have ISO30, there has been several upgrade topics around the net, but they all are several years old, and none of the links where to purchase work any more, so please help me out, were I can get ISO30 spindle shaft? is there reseller still selling this upgrade or reseller that sells spares, do they have spindle parts?

Ok, so Tormach machine is in real life copy/orginal of the rf45 genre. Didnt know that. But price range is little out of my reach, especially when old topics suggest very good prices. I keep digging.

no, the tormach shares little in common with the rf45 design, the machine is much bigger, you can see he comparison here.

    Try Charter Oak http://charteroakautomation.com/our-...n-nt30-spindle

Not a cheap option at $325 plus shipping.
The NT30 is the same as the ISO30 except the draw bar uses an imperial thread versus metric for the ISO (ie change the drawbar and its ISO30)
Try searching for BT30 and NT30 - you may find more results....

I bought a replacement spindle shaft. I believe NT30 years ago when Aaron ran Industrial Hobbies. Not 100% sure it would work, but willing to sell it. Shipping could be a little pricey to Finland.

I managed to google my way to Charter Oak too, but if its $325, its bit more than I was willing to spend. But that Kami link seems interesting, will email them. But before I do that, I need to hear vertcnc price and perhaps I can ask you to see how much the postage is, at least for me, many times over, US Postal? service has been ok priced, slow as snail, but you get what you pay for.

The reason behind this change is that my mill is with MT4 spindle that has room only for M12 drawbar and normal standard is M16, so if I want to use standard (cheaper, readily available) tools, I need to fiddle with M12->M16 thread adapter bungs and changing tool is pain in the horse. I was also thinking some kind of powerdrawbar solution. Easiest fix would be just taking the spindle apart and longdrilled it with 16mm hole, but still I would not have ability to have powerdrawbar, and still need to dismantle the spindle. So chaning to easily ejectable ISO/NT30 would solve those issues, and I would only need to have new ER collet and change few drill chuck adapters.

My most sincere thanks to gixxer-harry. My spindle arrived today. I was assuming buying just the spinde it self, but I got whole spindle assembly, just under 180usd (140eur) shipped.
Werkzeugmaschinen, Drehmaschinen, Fr was the company if some searches this.

    Hi Anle,

I will be looking for an ISO 30 spindle for my RF45 shortly. I got onto the German web site but I was unable to find the page where the spindles were being offered. Unfortunately I don't speak or read German. Could you give me more detail of the page where the ISO 30 spindles are?

    Thanks.

I post here, as I got several request in pm. on the matter, sorry for slow answer.

My way of getting correct part was simply, that I surfed the companys webpage, and looked machine that looked most same than mine, I setled to FKM 350, and asked parts for that particular machine. Items I received didnt have any partnumbers to give. I post here what is in my invoice:

    "FRäSMASCHINE
spindle ISO30 with quill for FKM 350
    ganze length: ca. 520mm
    length quill: 290mm
    diameter quill: 75mm
    diameter toothed rack: 28mm
    amount Zähne: 6 width: 6mm
    Anzugsspindel: 1 piece M12"

Many thanks, AnLe. You have been a great help. Hopefully I can now order the same item for my own RF45 clone.

    Hello Anle,

Looks like I am next one trying similar arrangement... and just curious - has this spindle fit in your machine without any problems, or any adjustments/modifications needed? And most important - are you satisfied with the result?

    with sincere regards,
    M
