Can you give some more information? It looks like each finger is controlled by a single DC motor driving a leadscrew. Motors are easy to control using H-bridges.

I only see 2 wires per motor. Are there any encoders or other feedback devices?

btw: It is a cool looking design.

    Hi Nasr1,
Wow very nice job on the hand. I'm building one aswell.
I would be interested in your design if you have any plans.
The best way and cheapest is mini servo's off ebay. About $5 each
Use the fine control wire for r/c planes. The sheath is about 2mm Dia an then has a centre rod inside.
Software and hardware to control the servos use VSA from Brookshiresoftware to control it. http://www.brookshiresoftware.com/vsa_overview.htm
and one of the Lynxmotion ssc-32 boards. http://www.lynxmotion.com/Product.as...&CategoryID=52

If your into electronics like me then you make your own controller and driver.
But for easy and cheap movement this is the way I have gone.

    Cheers
    Rod

    Hi,
Actually I had a closer look and see you are using motors.
Might be an idea to change to servos. Much easier.

    Cheers

I did something similar a few years ago except I placed some Futaba servos in the forearm that pulled on music wires to control the fingers with extension spring returns. To control it I made a PWM controller based around a 555 timer and I made a glove similar to Freddy Krugers from those Nightmare on Elm Street movies with a linear pot on each finger for control. Whatever I did the hand did but the servos were slow. You couldn't play catch with yourself using it but you could pick up a ball.

    Soloution for the hand project

Ok here we go first question is how many moters do you want to use ??
I have spent many years thinking about making a working hand and lots of thought had gone into it

ok is this also the final size of the hand your going to use ?

i figured it would take about 15 small moters to make all the fingers move with total controll and complete effectiveness...
Please forgive my spelling was never my best point in school.
i have many questions for you if your up for answering them let me know
