Are you using surfaces or solids?
Ok now when I go to sweep, cut it doesn't cut anything... its like another surface.

i copied it 180 degrees and i can see that it cut the solid, but not the surface.
and can i rotate the copy around the z axis so i can have the wave do 1hz instead of 2hz?

You've just about got it. I think your cylinder is probably a surface but you can make it a solid and the sweep should cut the groove in it.

From your picture I think to achieve 1 cycle you would rotate 180 about your x axis. Are you looking for a full sine wave i.e. + amplitude and - amplitude?

ok i got the frequency to change by changing the equation's 180* to 90*

Picture please. The post #12 is wrong. I said mirror when I should have said rotate, sorry.
Hide your first revolve and the groove may be shown if the first revolve is a surface and the protrusion is solid.
