Hi folks,
I released a sneak peak of this several weeks ago on the Taig Owners Club Forum and I'm pleased to now say that the STDR-4C is now officially released (although I've sold several already through word-of-mouth).

I've copied the specs below. The goal for this product was to make a solid, dependable stepper drive system that uses top-quality components while maintaining a very good bang-for-your-buck factor. It is available in both a USB and LPT interface options (I suggest the USB) and has all the connections to the outside world brought out to connectors on the rear panel. The matching connectors and needed cables are included.
The case has a unique 'attic shelf' that serves a dual purpose as a both a thermal control barrier and a mounting location. The 'attic shelf' ensures that the power supply fan draws in cool air from the bottom of the case while exhausting it out the top of the case. This also ensures a fresh supply of cool air for convective cooling of the G540.
For a Taig mill, it is strongly suggested that you use a line filter on the spindle motor. The motor emits a lot of noise on start up and can cause random problems with any control (not just this one!) http://soigeneris.com/cncparts2.aspx (bottom of page.)
The Soigeneris STDR-4C stepper drive is a compact, full featured 4-axis stepper drive system. The product of intensive research and development, it is built with a selection of carefully chosen components. The case, which measures about 10" x 10" x 4", houses a Gecko G540 stepper drive with built in optical isolation and a reliable MeanWell power supply. A mounting location is provided to seamlessly integrate the Warp9 SmoothStepper motion control board with the USB and Port 2 connections brought out to the rear panel. External connectors are provided for limit switches, VFD spindle control, 110V AC for a spindle motor, and auxiliary relay contacts. There is still room in the case for mounting other components. The front panel features an illumined power switch as well as a real industrial E-Stop switch, and there is ample area allow for customization with your own buttons and/or lamps or LEDs.
Specifications:
Size: 10"x10"x4".
Weight: approx 10 pounds.
Power: 110VAC, 10A max.
Spindle Control: Built in relay and power connection (5A max, ~1/2 HP).
Auxiliary relay contacts brought out to rear panel.
Limit switch connections brought out to rear panel.
Illuminated On/Off switch.
Industrial E-Stop switch (twist to release).
Gecko G540 Stepper drive.
Comes with connectors for connection of stepper motors, limit switches, and VFD. Also includes USB or parallel cable as applicable.

No time to do it right, plenty of time to do it twice.
Very nice looking controller Jeff.
One suggestion. Can you list the prices for the controller box on the page (perhaps in the drop-down)?. It is really annoying to have to add something to a shopping cart to see the cost.
bob
I think of it more like, If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it!
Ha ha, that is true. But my observation isn't so much about the actual dollars and cents as it is about the fact that the current setup is actually adding items to a shopping cart before telling you the price. I would find it equally annoying if it was for a $20 end mill. It is also inconsistent with the rest of the site where (for the most part) the prices are shown along with the descriptions.
In the end the important thing is that Jeff has put together a very nice package at a very competitive price. I hope he sells a ton of them.
bob
Thanks for catching that. Your right that I did try and list the price in each prop down list to make it much easier for folks. I've also been going back through everything so you will be able to see the part number, description and price in a drop down and on each line item in the cart. I'll get the drive box drop down fixed up today. It is also inconsistent with the rest of the site where (for the most part) the prices are shown along with the descriptions.
That was the goal; provide well built products with top quality components at competitive prices. In the end the important thing is that Jeff has put together a very nice package at a very competitive price. I hope he sells a ton of them.

Jeff, You are right. I didn't look at the thread link. Had I finshed my second cup of coffee I would have realized you were in the New Product Announcements section. I apologize and have removed the post.
