IMService has a new Digital Read Out, DRO kit available.
Up to 6 counters can be displayed on a Windows XP or Vista computer monitor. The display is resizable, offering miniature size up to full screen
sizes, and choice of your favorite font.
The DRO is implemented with the aid of a dedicated hardware counter
board with 24 bit registers and 1 million count per second
capability. Works with user supplied quadrature encoders( 5 vdc
single ended ) or pulsers, with 1X, 2X, and 4X count multipliers.
Offloading of the count functions to an external board, permits
simultaneous operation with Windows PC controllers such as DeskCNC,
Mach3, ncPOD, Flashcut, etc.
The counters can be preset and will accurately display inches, mm, or
degrees. The counters can also function as tachometers.
The DRO is ideal for manual machines, and is also fast enough to keep
up with most CNC machines. When used in conjunction with a CNC
machine, it can be used to independantly verify position on a stepper
system. It has Backlash compensation to facilitate use of rotary
shaft encoders on linear slides.
For the electrically challenged and inexperienced, junior electricians wiring encoders and making quality connecting cables can be a daunting task. To help with this task, we have packaged a set of cables that are designed to be plug and play with "heds" style encoders, like those used on our Globe servo motor systems.
This cable set permits dual operation of a servo motor closed loop and also feed the counts accurately to the USB-DRO counters.
This kit is designed for previous IMService servo system customers. It includes all the cabling necessary to add a DRO counter axis to a SYS-3, SYS-4, or SYS-5. Also works with kits 3 and 4. Cable set is certified to operate both servo motors and counters with no position drift or lost counts at operating speeds up to 85,000 steps per second. Purchase a pigail-encoder part #404054 for a complete cable kit for new customers.
