slow-speed EDM adopt brass wire as electrode, high-speed EDM use molybdenum wire as electrode. As we know, the copper is a kind of ideal conductive metal, which is widely used in electric industry, it can bear large current. But, as you know, brass is not good at elasticity and price; it is only used one time. On the other hand, high-speed EDM adopt good elasticity metal molybdenum wire as electrode, along with the method of electrode traveling(electrode act like a saw), so the electrode can be used for several times. But molybdenum canít bear large current, large current will make molybdenum wire more fragile, so the machining current of high speed WEDM is no more than 6A.
