Breakout Board

I decided to make a batch of breakout boards during my mill conversion. The ones I didn't use are for sale.

More details at: http://www.rammspeed.com/karvemachine

A board that usually plugs into the parallel port and usually has connections for stepper drives, home and limit switches, and relays. It makes it easier to wire everything up to the computer.

I changed servers a while ago and the landing page had to change. It's http://www.rammspeed.com/karvemachine/index.htm.

Are you going to share with us the schematics for those who will prefer to build it by themselves?

Sure. Considering the amount of other peoples knowledge I drew on when I built my machine, I'd be happy to reciprocate.

I'll post the schematic on my site (www.rammspeed.com/karvemachine/index.htm) sometime during the weekend.

"When a servo is powered up, it jumps"

Not always. Depends on the servo drive circuit and interface electronics.

The schematic is up: http://www.rammspeed.com/karvemachin..._schematic.pdf

I couldn't find the file on my computer (must have lost it when I upgraded to XP), so I had to recreate it.

True. I should correct that to read: "On some machines, the servos jump when they are powered up".

My machine does it. So does a friend's Maho with glass scales--when you power up the drives, the DRO shows the drives correcting themselves.

But, I've seen others machines since then that don't do it.
