Buy me a Beer?

Got a touch srceen for my special needs daughter, ( communications aide ).

Bloody horrible to pick entities close together using your fingers, you may have better luck using a "pointer pen" or something that puts croos-hairs on the screen ( I know -----------a mouse ) LOL

Hi Tob,
You putting in a wish list for christmas ???
sounds like your screen's running a bit hot
Steve

A 24" Ultra Sharp Flat Panel is going to get a little warm, LOL.
I am waiting until the Touch Screens get a little better, maybe a year or two.

Besides I just purchased a Dell Studio 15 for my better half yesterday.
MCX4 is the only thing on my X-mas list this year

My better half has a new truck on hers.

The heat issue is easily fixed. I worked for 3M (microtouch) for 4 years and we used to build touch capable screens up to 32inch. They are ok for everyday point and drag applications but are terrible for anything which demands precision.

If you ever need some pointers on how to solve the heat issue, pm me with monitor type and touch type.

Dragging and Stretching might be sloppy but with Parametric Design software this isn't a real issue because you sketch your shapes then input dimensions. If you make a change or mistake you can always edit the dimension and constraint

LOL, I'll be waiting a while before buying any more from Dell. Already spent $8,000 plus in the last year.

Thanks for the Offer techasist I will keep you in mind for the future.

if memory serves one of the higher end tablets from dell, the model for which escapes me, solves the problem quite well. Its got finger multi-touch support, but also a wacom pen sensor under the screen for when you need precision.

You can buy the touchscreen sensors in kit form. There's a bit of work involved in mounting it, but nothing too complicated if you a bit mechanically inclined (which I think everyone who visits this forum is!).

They are a bit pricey but at least you get to choose the type of sensor (capacitive, resistive, DST or Infrared) and you can use the monitor or LCD TV that you want.
