Low Limited Crap??? Dell makes the best Workstation Class PC's on the market. Hence the reason AutoCAD Inventor, Solidworks, Mastercam, EdgeCAM, UG/NX, and anyone else that supplies a reputable CAD or CAM Software recommends Dell Precision.

Low Limited Crap, LOL.

ok, my lack off precision in my profanity has led to a slight miss communication.
being a user of auto cad, pro-e and solid works, i would be surprised if the performance of the integrated computer monitor would be the equal to my stand alone multi video card high end systems. i use multi monitor setups with a waccom touch pad. i would love all of the monitors to be touch panels so i have control of what hardware is in what system running what OS. it is like the old burger commercial. i want it my way. not their way. biggest personal beef with the mac. dell has some stuff i like but in this case i want the burger not the fries and soda.

touch screen pc

Hi

We have used the ASUS EEE top pc with a built in touch screen for our low end systems, less than £400.00 - atom processor, XP, wireless. Works fine.

The only issue I have is that if the touch screen overlay gets damaged it might be a pain to get hold of the spares.
Generally we use a standard (Dell) 15" monitor and a touch screen overlay £50.00 as the industrial guys tend to kill them fairly regularly.
One guy on the night shift was setting his machine running then playing solitare using his car keys rather than his fingers.

One requirement for using touch screens is to have big buttons and no drop down selectors etc.

Demo vidoe here ( I think ) http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=...=videos&sort=v

cheers

Mike

Equipment especially this type shouldn't be touched by ignorant people

LOL that would eliminate almost every employee I have ever had

On a separate but somewhat similar note...When are we going to get a "nice" monitor that replaces the crap that comes on these machine tools.

I am about go through my second high dollar monitor on a VF4 in less than a year. The replacement sticks out farther than the original so you have to take the inside glass out and let it stick though the front...nice. No warranty unless they install..also nice..
If anybody comes up with a way to retrofit a 15 flat panel on those machines they will sell a ton of them

I used to pick up Point-Of-Sale monitors off ebay for industrial displays, with many of these however that had been used in the restaurant business etc, the personnel were apt to use credit card edges to enter info, this plays hell with the screen, the touch screen doubles as LCD protection, so the T.S. itself has to be replaced.
