please consider making the laminate trimmer collet again

Hi Ron,

please consider making the PC laminate trimmer 1/8" only collet again. It was the perfect solution for high precision light duty routing on small tables.

Hi James,

Unfortunately, the PC laminate trimmer does not hold up well in a CNC environment (or at least ours didn't). It is a single speed device with mid-grade consumer bearings. A better low-cost solution is the Bosch Colt with its variable speed and VERY good bearings. Take a look at them online. Pretty amazing.

Now that you mention it, I have always found it odd that the PC laminate trimmers were of such mid-line quality when their consumer and production grade routers are so good. I understand about pricing pressures (I run a manufacturing company, after all) but the design compromises that they chose do not make much sense to me.

Ron

Hi Ron,

Thanks for your answer, hope you can make it much sooner..

Hi Ron,

Ok, so will the Colt be one of the Bosch routers that you will make a collet / nut combo for?

Hi Ron,

Is it possible to buy the collet (aiming the PCUP-0429-KIT) together with the Porter Cable Router itself? It will be better if it only the replacement motor like here:

http://www.deltaportercable.com/Prod...roductID=16374

But the other problem is our mains voltage is 220V, maybe Porter Cable had some version on this voltage area.

Porter-Cable Collet Price Reduction

Thanks to your response, we are now in full production on Porter-Cable compatible nuts and collets. Our costs have come down (WAY DOWN), and, now, prices are coming down. If you purchased a PCPG or PCUP kit prior to this announcement, a gift certificate is on the way to thank you for your early support!

To view the new pricing, go to:

http://www.precisebits.com/products/...llets_nuts.asp

Thanks to all of the members who have tried the collets and reported their results here. Virtually all of the sales have been by "word-of-mouth", a real testimony to how far CNC Zone reaches. (put gratuitous smiley face icon here)

If you are referring to the proposed Bosch Colt collets, there is no way to make a 1/2" dia bit work with this router. As far as Porter-Cable compatible collets go, we should have our 1/2" collet out in about 8 weeks. A full set of Bosch router (production and consumer) compatible nuts and collets should be out before Christmas.

You are better off buying the Porter-Cable directly from a local source. I do not know if the routers are available for 220V but it is worth looking into.

No one sell Porter Cable here - in this part of the world where I live.

What routers are available? We will soon have nuts and collets for the Bosch Colt and larger routers available that might meet your needs.
