hi, does anyone know anything about if the Hitachi Seiki VA-40 not enough memory to download a program, is there anyway we could upgrade the memory for the machine. I heard we could run the program from the computer(DNC). I would appreciate this.

Hitachi Seiki Alarms...

I recently purchased a Hitachi Seiki CAB65 5 axis mill turn cell with a Secois LIII control. Set it up, wired it in,,, and PRESTO! I had a -Y Axis Hard Limit Alarm. Easy enough to take care of that one. When I restarted the machine I had a 948 Emergency Stop Alarm. Look it up in the stinking manual which says,, Alarm 948, Emergency Stop! I've been over the schematics, the machine, the controller,,, not getting anywhere! Worse, now I have a 1471 C Axis Connection Abnormal Alarm. My alarms list stops before 1000 ! Everything seems to be in order.

Almost afraid to turn it on again for fear of more alarms!!

Anyone have an alarm list that goes to 1471 or has an E-Stop Alarms that wouldn't go away?

I started this reply to see if anyone has heard from Hatichi Man? I spoke with him in June..

Thanx

Special Thanx to Hitachi Man

It’s been a while since I've had time to visit this site. But it has been on my list of things to get done.

Couple months back I was overwhelmed with problems with our Hitachi Seiki CAB65 Mill/Turn Center. Josh, aka “Hitachi Man”, provided us with excellent support. It was immediately evident that he had extensive experience working with CNC equipment and he uses a smooth, methodical approach in problem solving.

I had 47 things wrong at the same time, and I was about to get excited! Josh never stumbled or stammered. He took the information I was providing and very calmly provided clear, concise instructions, step by step, in perfect order. His abilities in solving complicated electronic and mechanical problems inherent with CNC equipment was evident throughout the process. He included good explanations of what was happening and why. This was important to me. I really get aggravated with complicated situations when it’s not clear what caused the problems and worse, what fixed it!

I rarely give recommendations like this, mainly because I've had my ass biten several times over the years. But, Josh stands far ahead of any CNC technicians we’ve used before. Most important, there’s no BS with him, good man.

Josh, thanx again for a job well done. Looking forward to working with you in the future.

Kind Regards,
Dave Seal, Ph.D.
