I was in Phoenix on Monday (March 7th, 2011) for business and decided to stop by MaxNC to see if they were closed for good as their web page and phones have been out of order for a few weeks. I was very please to find Otto Echeverri, the designer and original owner of MaxNC, in residence and putting the company back together after the previous owner filed for bankruptcy. Not only is Otto committed to getting MaxNC back up and running 100% but he has hired back former employees (paying one to move back from Texas to assist him) and he is actively working to update/improve the controller design for the closed loop machines. Otto was a pleasure to chat with. He is obviously very troubled by the problems the previous owner caused in the last year or so and seems like he is really committed to the existing customer base and their machines. Otto was able to solve my spindle issue easily and spent the better part of an hour helping me understand my machine and how to get the most out of it. He even talked me out of a new machine in favor of upgrading the one I have, saving me a couple of grand in the process. Considering how busy he seemed, I really appreciated his help during my unannounced visit. I think it would make a great CNC Zone front page blurb to let folks know Otto is back, although under a different company name while the former owner's bankruptcy is proceeding. As a temporary measure Otto put up the old web page under a new domain name (www.ximotion.com). Their phone number is 480-940-9414. Otto deserves credit for coming out of retirement and trying to save the company from extinction. From what I saw during my visit, he is well on his way. It looked like he was ramping up production and had several orders being filled while I was there. Apparently Otto is trying to get the MaxNC name and web site transferred back to him during the bankruptcy so MaxNC.com should be back up shortly. In the meantime, XiMotion.com is the way to reach them. Scott |

Sorry, I can't yet share this news as "Good". The same people are working there answering the phones (even remembered my company, but interestingly not all of my calls for help). That simply means they're the some of the same people who refused to return my calls when it was MAXNC. When I called to find out if the parts that I sent MAXNC where still there (since the place had been pad-locked), suddenly they were not so accommodating as when they thought I might buy a "ximotion" platform. When I emailed Otto to see if he could find the parts or what he could do to help, there was NO RESPONSE. I had enough of NO RESPONSE from MAXNC and currently CAN see no difference between MAXNC and XiMotion (ximaxncmotion) in terms of ACTUAL constructive responses. I'd like to have a system that might actually move 2cm without locking up and would caution doing advertizing for them. Shouldn't CNCZone be an objective forum? The bottom line is I got stuck with a useless controller, a fragile embedded computer, a shaky tower, phone bills, shipping costs and I'm out parts that were never returned. Maybe, not Otto's fault, I get that, BUT... If its "same people, same platform and same lack of response" then whats the real difference to me? I have good reason to be suspicious of claims that involve this platform and I have had no proof of change other than a different name on an advertizing letter. I'm always willing to give benefit of the doubt but only when I've seen there's some proof of substantive change. Prove me wrong? Last edited by RSid; 06-03-2011 at 01:51 PM.
