ME Consultant Professional is an advanced machining calculator, job planner, and database designed to help you do the engineering, estimating, planning, and programming necessary to get the most from your CNC machining centers and lathes. Using a bare minimum of input, it creates a detailed tooling plan and calculates material, machining, and overhead costs for a proposed machining operation. MEPro is a fast and accurate, money-saving alternative to stacks of reference books, hours of internet searching, and multiple error-prone manual calculations. All job data can be instantly recalculated in the event of changes in workpiece material, machine characteristics, lot size, or efficiency factor. Controls are clearly labeled and have informative tooltips which can be turned on or off with a mouse click. A comprehensive and friendly User Guide explains all of the program functions. MEPro is designed to be equally helpful to inch and metric users. | Hello Michael. I regularly use ME Consultant v2.0, the freeware version and swear by it. I'd buy the Pro version just to contribute to your work but would you mind giving us a rundown of the basic differences between the two products? Regards, JR |

| JRoque, Thanks for writing. There's really too much to describe here, but if you'll go to my website, there's a screenshot and description for each function. If you're interested, an uncrippled 30-day trial can be downloaded. The User Guide spells everything out in considerable detail. In a nutshell, though - Graphical configuration, including ability to startup and work in either inch or metric. Designed to be equally useful to users of both systems. Graphical editing of machining data - modify, create, delete, rearrange materials with a few mouse clicks. Added taps, spot drills, and boring bars to the machining calculator, along with several new features. Job Planner - works in combination with the machining calculator to create a detailed job plan for organizing and estimating your CNC lathe and machining center jobs. Detailed cost and time analysis. Print a report and save data to disc. Again, a few mouse clicks get a lot done. Thread data for over 1000 thread sizes, including a printed report with all data for a specific size. Expanded material weight calculator - more shapes, customizable database allows adding of new materials, also allows for material cost calculations which can be sent to the Job Planner. Socket Head Capscrew dimension chart Added metric sizes to the center drill chart Tooltips for everything - you can turn them off when you don't need them any more. A big bunch of other improvements and enhancements. The program works really well. Give it a look, there's nothing to lose. Mike http://mrainey.freeservers.com

| I've just added an eighteen-minute video that illustrates how MEPro works. If you could benefit from an inexpensive program that's: a machining calculatorit's probably worth your time to take a look. http://mrainey.freeservers.com/MEPro.html

| I've just finished an update for ME Consultant Professional, which is now at version 2.0. The changes are mainly geared toward making the interface more relaxed and pleasant to use: Most of the function buttons have been replaced with dropdown and right-click context menus. You can see screenshots and read about the capabilities of MEPro here: http://mrainey.freeservers.com/MEPro.html A 10-day trial version can be downloaded here: http://mrainey.freeservers.com/Downl...Pro20Trial.exe If you're a licensed MEPro user and registered after September 1, 2007, there's no update charge. If you're a licensed MEPro user and registered on or before September 1, 2007, there's a $20 update charge. In either case, please contact me if interested and I'll take care of the details. rainey47@bellsouth.net

There's a new standard version at half the cost of MEPro. http://closetolerancesoftware.com/MEStd.html

| Is there somewhere that we can download your demo video with sound? It doesn't help much watching the mouse move around the screen without it.

| Hi, I didn't realize there could be a problem with the sound. It plays normally for me. You can download the video here (17 MB). It plays in Windows Media Player. http://closetolerancesoftware.com/MEProIntro.wmv The video shows the interface for the previous version of MEPro, but the functionality hasn't changed too much. I'll get it updated as time permits. Mike
