Tool Breakage Detection Down to 0.125mm!

Emmaco UK Ltd recently announced the release of their new tool breakage detection system that can detect drill breakage at 0.125mm. The system uses a high speed spindle linked to a signal amplifier which detects the unique power signature that the drill creates during it's drilling cycle.

This amplified signal is then sent to an Argotech unit which constantly monitors the power signal and ensures that it is kept within tolerance.

Any drill breakage will instantly trigger an alarm and put the machine in feed hold or auto shutdown.

Any part of the drilling cycle can be monitored, for instance the start of the cycle to detect short bar feeds or during the cycle to detect any tool wear.
