Please find our latest DeskProto Press-release: Utrecht (Netherlands) -- June 4, 2010 The year 2010 has come with a double anniversary for Delft Spline Systems: the company now is 25 years old and the DeskProto software (made by Delft Spline Systems) 15 years. These anniveraries are celebrated with a special bargain offer: a DeskProto Hobby license ! DeskProto has been created as an extra tool for users with a different (non-CNC) profession. Like a designer needing a prototype, a jeweler needing a wax-model, a medic needing a brace. It's key feature is ease-of use, even for the most complex geometry. This feature makes DeskProto very suited for hobbyist CNC machinists. Delft Spline Systems reports many requests for such license over the past few years: the price of the DeskProto full license may be very low for a commercial application, for most hobbyist users 995 Euro forms too high a threshold. The celebration offer is a DeskProto V5.0 Full edition for only 248 Euro (excl VAT), which means a discount of almost 75 % ! "We already made the DeskProto Lite edition for hobbyist users" says Lex Lennings, DeskProto sales manager. "However, we have found that many hobbyist users require professional functionality, and need the DeskProto Full edition to meet their requirements. We are very happy that we now can help these professional hobbyists too." Applications for hobbyist users include scale models, lithophanes and wood-reliefs. For others the hobby is in fact building the machine, still when it is finished of course some parts need to be machined as well. Lithophanes are pictures that can only be seen when illuminated from the back side: see the illustrations. A great hobby application for DeskProto, as machining lithophanes is easy and the results are guaranteed to produce many admiring reactions. The DeskProto website includes a tutorial video that shows how to create the pipe lithophane in the ilustration. As the hobby license is a special celebration offer it is valid for a limited period of time: from June 1st until Sept 30, 2010. A fully functional trial version (30 days) can be downloaded free of charge to 'try before you buy'. The DeskProto.com website also offers free geometry files, and a number of free training videos. |
