Convert: Servo Driven DesignJet 650c into X-Y Pen plotter.

    Hello,

I've got an old, large format printer that has a failed servo processor. I'd like to utilize the working servo motors and convert it into a pen plotter. I originally thought the thing used stepper motors, then discovered that they were servos. From a little research, I see that servo motors are bit more complicated than stepper motors. Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as how I would go about building a driver that can easily interface with a PC via parallel port?

    Thanks

    Look at EMC2,
    Bypassing the printer logic.

But jeesh, for less than $50 and a "local pick up only" You might snag a working pen plotter off Ebay. The HP7550 pen plotter I recently "acquired" was less than 50 bucks to my door.

But...where would be the fun in that?
