    Bitmap to .EPS

Im a newbie to the world of cutting! go Figure Right. Im trying to convert a bitmap to .eps or some that signblazer will cut. Ive tried to convert save as and other mind blowing things and Im about exhausted. I know that someone can shed some light on this. After conversion and adobe illistrator, corel draw the file extension shows .eps however when I go to cut it gives me a error saying its a bitmap....

    bitmaps

    Hi,
I had the same problem using Lxi8 software. I went to vectormagic.com and vectorized my bitmap online. I am also very new to vinyl sign work. This was very easy and it only cost 3.00. You can play with it until you are satisfied before you download and pay. I downloaded it as an eps file and saved it. then I imported it into my sign software. It worked great.

Of course, now I have another problem. When I used the logo again I did something that put a box around it and I can't figure out what I did or how to get it off. It will still cut the logo, but it also cuts the frame. Anybody got any idea how to lose the frame? I hate being stupid!

    Hope this will help.

    Bitmap to Vector Conversion

Adobe Illustrator CS3 is very good for bitmap to vector conversions

There is a student version available for a little less than $200.00

Another trick if you have Photoshop and Illustrator. Copy your image and paste it into a new channel. Alt + Click (or CTRL + click, can't remember right now) on that channel and it will give you an option to load it as a selection. You can then click on the little circle on the bottom of you channel palette and convert it to paths. You then go to FILE>EXPORT> PATHS TO ILLUSRATOR. Sounds a bit crazy, but it has saved me a few times.
