    some kind of communication problem

I am very new to vinyl cutting. I have been playing around trying to figure all of this out. I have done a few cuts and things seemed to go well. But now for some reasons my computer not communicating with the plotter. I called tech support and we tried several different things and they finally decided that it has something to do with my anitvirus. So I disabled it. Still no go!!! Any suggestions. Thank you

I'm a bit rusty as I retired from cnc routing and vinyl cutting about 5 years ago, but the usual problem was the file being sent to the cutter. Most vinyl cutters use HPGL file to cut or plot with and if you have not converted your file to a .plt file the cutter will not recognise it. Some dedicated cutting programs will do this automatically but programs such as Coreldraw need additional work to run successfully. As a matter of interest what program are you using?

Having used my cutter exactly once, successfully, the following suggestions:Reboot.
Plug in cables. If USB to parallel, use your cutter software to select the proper USB/Plotter driver/communication, kind of like selecting a printer. The hold downs for the vinyl need to be at the outside edges of the cut area, over "sandy" rollers, or the plotter cuts partial numbers. US Cutter maching. LOL

Frequently disabling your firewall/anti-virus doesn't actually stop it from blocking communications. I have had this happen with wireless connections.

If all else fails, you might try removing ( uninstalling ) the anti-virus program and see if your cutter works.
