HP 7550a graphics plotter - convert into vinyl cutter?

I know this is possible and i've read as much as possible online. But does anyone have any experience, drivers, manuals, anything on how to do this? I just need somewhere to start, such as a program and what the best way to connect it would be?

If anyone can help at all that'd be great! Thanks, Jaime

I remember using one of those when they first came out years ago, 8 pen, right?

It seems like it would be as simple as finding a blade that can fit the pen holder,
then any software that could output vector files to it such as Corel should work. The limitation of having to cut the vinyl to paper sheet size would be very limiting though, and you can get a decent plotter for $600 now.

Buy the same brand holder with your cutting machine, It is different with each brand. You had batter buy form your cutting machine sales.

OF course it's obvious that a HP7550 does not have an OEM knife holder

The machine is originally a pen plotter.

But,the Mimaki style knife blade holders fit the HP pen holder nicely, even if additional securing is a good idea (Like a rubber band, a tie- wrap or best of all, a custom holder. The pen carousel is best left unused.

    Cheers
