Dollars for a post

I need a 5X post for a Fanuc control. It is not a true 5 axis. It's a 3+2 indexer. Here is a link to give you an idea. http://www.beere.com/html/rotary_multidex.html Will pay cash for a "working" post. I tried going to my dealer for help but I'm sorry, MC support sucks %&$*. If interested, I will give details on what I need from post.

Help

I am sure i may be able to help you out. From what i see it is just like a off line Haas indexer not machine specific. What i mean is you can put it on any machine. I could be wrong but you can send me some more info. i have had my share of messing with Mastercam post in 18years lol.

The generic 5 axis post should work fine. You may have to edit some of the basic postblocks to get machine specific code. If you do make edits stay within the boundaries set up within the post. Jay (aka Cadcam) has a Powerpoint presentation on his ftp site at emastercam.com site. This explains the parameters that need to be set up to get proper output from the post.

Question

I Have simple question about these file's or one of the files. The .pps file open's with PowerPoint, I get that, but what about the.ppt file ? Is it part of the other file or do I have to use some other Window's utility to open it ? Pretty informative. Thank's in advance . Harold C.

I believe these are the same in two different formats (one is slideshow one is presentation). The pps opens for me. The ppt doesn't. All you need to know about setting up the post is in the pps file. Another user might be able to open the other file(this is why I posted it).
Setting up a 5-axis post can be alot to undertake, don't give up. If you grasp the concept of the gnomon you are only likeley to stumble on one thing(axis direction), you might , like most of us, overlook this. Sometimes backwards is forward. The set up is basically as follows: -- table/table -- the main body of the indexer will be primary axis and the 5-c's will be secondary axis -- pick one of the 5-c's for a zero point. The others can be used with a shift (either work offset or fixed). The remaining parameters are addresses (a,b,c) and rotation limits -- delta between axes and such -- only you know these. Any ???'s let us know. If you can post the specs on the indexer and a txt describing the orientation (along the x or y) you may get further along faster. The most common way to set the part zero on these is at the centerline of the 5-c(pointing straight up) that you pick as the reference point for the post on the ground surface that the collet goes into. You can set the cl once and work offsets once and never touch them again until you move the indexer. This is also where you will touch off your tools. (All positive Z's in program ). I can go on and on, but it is all up to you to decide on 1 point of reference for the post to translate to. Then you can translate subs for each additional part. Make a test part to debug your settings as basic as possible eg:cut a 1"dia - cut z zero at 1" high -drill holes to center at 0-90-180-270. Make your part zero on centerline at bottom of part +.xxx amount the stock will be above the point you touched off your tools(ground flat face of 5-c). This will give you a good reference point to see error(if they are not completely obvious already). If you can get this far you are "out of the woods".
