bringing post from x3 to x5 machine....

At work, i have a machine with x3 and the post for my hurco works excellent. however I have been playing with x5 on another machine at work, and it doesn't have my hurco post. copying the pst & mmd files over to the x5 folders isnt doing the trick like it did for x2 to x3...... what am i missing?

I don't think the MMD and control files will work cross platform like that. I have found that the PST files I have tried from any version seem to work correctly on X3. Are you sure your MMD and control files are calling the PST file that you actually want to to use (correct file location and name)? I would also check the MMD and control files very carefully or build new ones.

on x3, my control and mmd file was in the cnc_machines folder...... and the pst file was in the mill folder.

in x5, the pst file is in the shared mcamx5/MILL/Posts folder, the mmd is in the shared mcamx5/CNC_MACHINES folder, however i do notice that they no longer get the .mmd extension to the end.....

as for building a post, im greek to it, but i am willing to learn....

I would not try to build a post from scratch. I find one that gets close and then start to modify it. Some of the posts even give you hints inside as to what lines to change.

you have to use the update folder in X5 to update your post, mmd ect. you cannot drag and drop any more, you will have issues.
