misc. values / set op defaults

as the help mention [Choose Set to Op Defaults to read the default values stored in the .DEFAULTS file. You can edit or override the default values by entering new values here.]

where is the default file? I'm on X5

You can actually do this in a few different places depending on how your post settings are set up. Anyhow, the defaults file is opened through mastercam, it's not a file you just open up in windows.

One way you can set the values is through your Control Definition of the machine you're programming to (see picture).

The Defaults you mention is accessed through your machine settings as well. First you select your machine (MMD) and go to your Operations Manager (where your toolpaths are stored). Then expand the "Properties" tree and select the "Files" button. (see picture). Then select the "!" button and you'll have access to all toolpath types available to set many many things as defaults.

The easiest to adjust or set can be done on the fly. While you're in a toolpath, you can enter all of your info/data for the toolpath, then before you hit the check mark for the toolpath generation, you can press the SAVE button and that toolpath will save it's settings to the default file you're using for 'next time'.... (see picture)
