I have a Centroid mill and lathe controller. I thought the MCEN4 was a post for lathe and mill. I get good code for the mill. (I had to change 73 to 83 in the post to get deep hole drilling to work.) I can't get lathe code out of that post though. In the title block of the post under lathe it says "None". Is there a trick to get lathe code or do I need another post? Phoodieman |

I don't have that post in my install, but from the sounds of it, m=mill, cen=Centroid, 4=4 axis. So this would not be a mill post. You need a lathe post with live tooling capabilities and Y axis (if available). Some of these post can be difficult for the average user to handle. You may want to consult in your reseller for alternate posts.

m=mill, cen=Centroid, 4=4 I know this isn't right. MPCEN4 is the post I have and it works for a 3 axis horizontal mill with a 400 controller. Which is what I'm running. So the call out means m=mill (Or probably matercam), p=post cen=Centroid, 4=400 controller. Mill is not my problem. I have good code there. I need a post for a two axis horizontal lathe with a Centroid 15 controller. The MPFLAN will make code but so many edits are needed it's easier to write at the controller. But MC makes it a lot faster if you have the right post. I have edited several mill and lathe posts to a turn key condition, but it's really a fight and I don't have time for that BS right now but thanks for your reply. Phoodieman

Cad01 is correct this is a mill post MP=mastercam post, CEN=Centroid, M4 =milling with 4th axis capable Code: # Post Name : MPCENM4 # Product : MILL # Machine Name : CENTROID # Control Name : M-SERIES # Description : GENERIC CENTROID M-SERIES POST # 4-axis/Axis subs. : YES # 5-axis : NO # Subprograms : NO # Executable : MP 9.13 this is a naming format for Mcam before X The header info should tell you the post capabilities A mill/turn can be a custom special ( mill/turn is a confusing term ) now a lathe with the milling function look for a lathe with 4 axis or C-axis ie GENERIC FANUC 4X MT_LATHE.PST Read the headers in the actual .PST file

I see what you are saying and yes he's right # Post Name : MPCENM4 # Product : MILL # Machine Name : CENTROID # Control Name : M-SERIES # Description : GENERIC CENTROID M-SERIES POST # Associated Post : NONE # Mill/Turn : NO # 4-axis/Axis subs. : YES # 5-axis : NO # Subprograms : NO # Executable : MP 8.00 This is the actual header from the post for the mill I have. This post only needed one minor edit to get PERFECT code. (The G83 for deep hole peck). So I see the prefix needs to have MPL with the CEN string included. I've looked in V 8 and V 9 but I don't see Centroid in there so I guess I'm screwed. Unless you have the latest and greatest from MC forget any support for older versions. Thanks for the replies....this forum has helped me a lot. Helped me this time too even though I did't get the post. Phoodieman
