post for Fanuc 21iT on Romi Lathe

I am using Surfcam 4.0 and I'm trying to get it to work on a Romi M17 combination lathe with a Fanuc 21iT controller. The post from Surfcam is for a Fanuc 10T and I keep getting errors when trying to run a program. Any suggestions.

Do you use the CAP programming on board on the machine? I use it and teach it to people often, it is a really good package for it's intended purpose and should be much quicker than CAM creation and sending to the control.
The posted code on this control will be signifigantly different than that of a 10T, You could start by creating a program using the onbard CAPT software, posting it to the CNC side of the control and then you will be able to see the differences in the preparatory blocks enabling the post to be modified.
If you need any more help email me at ntek1@aol.com
    Hope this helps!

    Romi

I use FeatureCam for my M27. I don't know surfcam but the post should be similar. I like the guide side, as well. There are some things that are easier to program.

I have SurfCam V5 and run the Fanuc 10T post on my M17 without any issues.
Don't remember if i had to modify anything in the post or not....too long ago.

Wondering what sort of errors you are getting?

    Errors

I have my post do the long form. I'm sure the canned cycles worked but there are times it gets a little flaky!

I should probaly clarify, when programming on the conversational side then if you elect to convert it to G code, the on board post selected different canned cycles for some features as oppossed to standard canned cycles ( I want to remember G78 instead of G82 or 83 for some reason). Or perhaps that was just how the last M17 i worked on was set up.

    G78

That is correct! That is the way the machine posts. If you are using SurfCam you will be posting Fanuc code. Then that is where you should do long form code.
