MC to Milltonics

I transferred my CentV post for MC V8 to a new computer and when I try to change the Post it says File path not found. It has the file path of my other computer which is not valid in the new computer. How do I change the file path of this post for the new computer?

Thanks john

V8 path to your post directory is normally c:\mcam8\mill\posts\
your post and .txt file should reside in this directory

Paths for all mastercam components is defined in the system configuration file ( alt-F8 )
( I think under the "Files" tab ) ( the config file can also be edited in a text editor, but you have to reload the file for changes to come into effect )

Are you sure it is the post not having the correct path ( it may be the edtior path that is not found ) ???

Superman
I put the centV post file in the Mcam8\mill\posts\ . When I change post to the centV post and try to use it says path not found. The path is C:\NC\NC . So I created and NC folder in my C drive with a NC sub folder and then in the MC Config I changed the path to C:\NC\NC and then the post worked. Where is the CentV post getting its path from. I assumed it was in the post file its self.

Thanks John

That was my next step
on install , the default NC post-to path is c:\mcam8\mill\nc\
the target directories must exist, as you just found out.

generally you want to post to a local directory ( the one above is ideal-it's good practice to keep it neat and tidy [ a mastercam NC-file under mastercam ]),
and have it open in the editor, do any minor changes, save ( local save) and then do a "save as" into the folder that the machine calls and saves the file from. This keeps the running file seperate from mastercam, who can very easily post over a good file.

Plus if you edit at the control and stuff up, you have a fairly good file to call in again.
