New Forum Listing Mentors & Apprentices...

If CNCadmin (Paul) would consider adding a forum that would be for listing willing mentors by their own submission and/or for apprentices looking for one for professional or hobbyist interest, via each state in the USA and other countries?

HOW WOULD YOU VOTE FOR THIS? YES (Good Idea) OR NO (Bad Idea)

As far as other countries go, I dont know how they could be listed other than maybe North, South, East, West, Central ??? (Any ideas here? email me...)

I for one, would be interested in knowing of others that are close to where I
live and share some of the same interest.

There is so much knowledge and talent on this website...10,000+ that I think that there may be other members who would like to have this info available to them too, maybe not. I have been asked to run this idea past everyone who is willing to vote and see what they thought about it.

Thanks!

I voted yes and think it would help to find others to help. I have so many things (projects) that I'm working on and others could be helped with things. I have 30 years machine building experience. Hope this forum gest started.

Great suggestion. I hope it works.
I have made a post in the new forum already.

You did well to get Paul to create the forum.
I have been hasling for a "Competitions and Give aways" forum for ages and had no responce. Maybe if I ask publicly I might get better results.
I recon it would be good to have all the comps together so that it was easier to find the current comps, and also view past results. Also potential comp sponsors could easily see the great reslts these comps get.

I am currently speaking with a CAD crowd about running a comp here. It is a real pain having to hunt for past links of comps to show them what the reslts were.

Oh BTW this CAD crowd ( No names mentioned yet) have never run a comp or advertising here b4, so it may be interesting to see what responce the whole thing gets. That is, if they do descide to come to the party.

ynneb,

Thank You, I hope it goes over well too!

My Kudos again to Paul for getting it done so quickly with the voting only being 9 Yes and 1 NO at the time.

I agree that it would be nice to have the comps listed under one heading...I too have to hunt & find them sometimes, even by reverting back to an automated email response for the link to make it a little quicker. I think that it would be very beneficial for the current and/or future potential sponsors/members to have quicker and easier access to these threads. More CNC Zone.com members may possibly join in them if they were easier to locate. I have seen that in the past few comps that I have participated in, that there were quite a few people that mentioned they had just heard about it. (Or was this just an excuse )

EXPOSURE, EXPOSURE, EXPOSURE...isnt that what its all about???

Try a poll to see what others think...Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained..RIGHT!

I will personally give it a yes vote if you do poll for it!

Have a good one...

I don't want to create a Competitions and Give away forum because that is not a main feature of the site. Also depending on the contest, it's ether located in the club house or in the forum of the sponsor of the give-away. I also run a banner and email everyone to make the members aware of it. I like your suggestions, so keep them coming, but I have to pass on that request. The reason for some of the give-aways is to place a focus on the sponsor(s) and to get a great product in the hands of a CNCzone member(s). If I were doing a contest every month and it became a regular thing that I will add that forum.

BTW, manythings don't need a vote, you just have to ASK.

No it is not the main feature of the site, but is merely a topc just like "Steam engines"
and 'wood routers" etc, are not the main topics either but go to making the whole picture.

I would have thought that judging by the responces to competitions, that it certainly was an interest in the CNC world. After all, the products it advertises / promotes, are all CNC related.

If I were doing a contest every month and it became a regular thing that I will add that forum.
Well you know my plans. Also we have at least two more comps in the pipelines now already. I have little doubt that there will be more after that too.

The reason for some of the give-aways is to place a focus on the sponsor(s) and to get a great product in the hands of a CNCzone member(s).
I think what you are saying is that you want the giveaways to be in the same forum as the sponsor. I can accept that. But I think the competitions held collectivly together does not detract from the sponors, and show all the good time sponsors in the one basket. That in itself is a good add too.

Ok so now I come to the begging part. PLEASE

BTW, many things don't need a vote, you just have to ASK.
We both know where the statement "you have not, because you ask not" comes from.
I am asking.
