think3 design expressions... it comes with hyperMILL and it rocks. i'm a long time solidworks user and the change over was fairly painless. their support is really good too.

Solidworks is by far the easiest to use Cad only program I can think of!

I used qcad, which is quite limited, but not much else is available in linux. I use blender to create 3d graphics for when I do 3d cutting.

Mazak to G Code

Does anyone know of any software that can convert Mazak lathe programs to G Code? We have 2 Fusion Control Mazaks and have a new machine with Fanuc Control. I would like to find something that can take the existing programs and convert them to G code without haveing to rewrite them.

Any suggestions anyone?[/B]

Odd poll...

Are you really trying to compare a 2D drafting/design tool with a parametric 3D solid modeler...

Ross,

Here is a page that has quite a few Linux CAD programs, http://www.tech-edv.co.at/lunix/CADlinks.html I have been trying to learn CAD myself and figure out which of these would be the best. Some of the links are dead, but there are several that are quite interesting.
